Every year we make New Year’s resolutions. We say we are going to start exercising, dieting, investing more, saving more, giving more, doing more, and changing bad habits. We often pray for money, material things, houses, and cars. How often do we pray for our soul to prosper? This year let’s make the commitment to fast more, pray more, read the word more, to be better, and do better. It is time to let our soul grow!
III John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
God desires for us to prosper spiritually, financially, and physically. It is God’s will for us to be blessed, have more than enough, walk in favor and live a healthy lifestyle. Good health is priceless. It takes money to buy land. These are all temporal and only last a lifetime. Soul prosperity last for all eternity. The key to our success is to let our soul grow. Our soul grows when we nourish it with prayer, fasting, and reading the word. David said, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” (Psalms 42:1) When a deer is thirsty or dehydrated, he craves for water. He searches for water like one searches for gold. I believe when we began to search for God with all of our soul, we will see a great move of God in our lives and in our churches. The more we search for God, the more we will learn about the character of God, the more we will begin to exhibit the Lord’s characteristics.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
Seeking God and putting God first is crucial. God promises to bless us with the things of this world that we love and desire, if only we would seek Him first.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God.
We must strive to be like Christ and present ourselves holy unto God if we want our soul to grow. We become transformed as we continue to renew our minds on the word of God. We are to meditate on the word of God daily.
Are you committed to God? Are you walking according to the word of God? Make this year the year that live, speak, and do the word of God above all else. Let your soul grow 2017!!!
