Zak Williams has been a staple in the Gospel music industry for decades. Some know him as a noted Stellar Award-winning producer and songwriter. Others know him as the Music Director of the popular choir, Rev. Ernest Davis Jr.’s Wilmington Chester Mass Choir. Still others recognize him as the host of the radio show, The Choir Storm. The talented, Philadelphia-based musician is also the leader of the Gospel choir 1/AKORD and the choir has just released a brand new single entitled “He’s All I Need”. Celebrating the resurgence of the church choir and released on Enon Music Group, the song is currently available on Rev. Ernest Davis Jr.’s Rev. Celebrating the resurgence of the church choir and released on Enon Music Group, the song is currently available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other digital music outlets.
The new single, penned by songwriter Gabriel A. Sharpe and arranged by Williams, features the unforgettable vocals of Bishop Bruce V. Parham. When Sharpe introduced the song to Zak, Williams knew it would be perfect for 1/AKORD. He says, “When I listened to the song, I really liked the song. In thinking about a featured vocalist, I was looking for someone who could give the song a fresh drive. I knew I wanted a male singing the lead and ran into Bishop Parham and I asked him if he would sing on it. He loved it and the rest is history.”
Bishop Parham isn’t the only one who enjoys the song. Robyn McCollum aka @RadioRobyn of Philadelphia’s Gospel Highway Eleven says this about “He’s All I Need”: “My dude Zak is back with a yet another awesome groove that’s sure to bless you musically, point you to the ONE you need, and encourage you to keep trusting Him! Philly is proud as he and 1/AKORD do not disappoint with this tune!” Garland “Miche” Waller of E.M.G. (Enon Music Group) says, “One of the most amazing choirs that continue to represent the Philly tradition is Zak Williams & 1/AKORD. You will be blessed by their new single, ‘He’s All I Need.’” Dr. Alyn E Waller, Sr. Pastor of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church & President of EMG Music Group says, “Zak Williams is a breath of spiritual fresh air, a blessing to the music ministry and the body of Christ.”
Zak was intentionally about the presentation of the song. “Because I am a musician first, the song has a strong music presence,” says the leader of 1/AKORD. “I love a good groove so the song is all about the groove in the beginning. That’s customary with most of my music. It’s an up-tempo ballad. I believe people will truly enjoy the vamp which says, ‘Can’t nobody do me like Jesus’,” says Williams. Although he loves the musical element of the track, the message is what he’s most passionate about. He believes people need to be reminded that Jesus is all that we need. “People depend on family and friends, but at the end of the day, He is all we need,” he shares. The single is the first one out of the gate from the forthcoming project, The Next Chapter. To accompany the new song and CD is a new vision, a new focus and new choir members.
